Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker contender on the globe by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandfather introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the adverse comments from others kill his dream of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.

Phil started playing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching period and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed many of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an undying love for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
