No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

[ English ]

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover every little thing he could about poker. He routinely would tell his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not let the negative comments from other people destroy his dream of being one of the best poker players on the planet.

Phil started competing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing love for poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his achievements. He knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.

Even though Phil has won some large tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
