NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup everything he could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the negative comments from others kill his dream of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

Phil started competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching period and winning was not a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and an eternal love for the game of poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes errors every single session of poker and always aspires to improve.

Even though Ivey has won some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
