NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker contender in the world by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover everything he possibly could about the game. He routinely would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not let the adverse comments from others destroy his goal of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.

Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a learning period and winning was not a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an undying love for the game of poker. He says that he is picking up skills every day and is quite humble about his success. He knows he makes errors every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Although Phil has won some large tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a normal basis.
